1994 Vintage
Wine Spectator,
October 15, 1995. Rated 91: Distinctive for its ripe, complex
array of flavors, focusing on pear, spice, fig and vanilla. Picks
up undertones of citrus on the elegant finish. This has always,
been, and remains, a one-of-a-kind white wine from this innovative
winery. Spectator Picks: Beginning with the 1989 vintage,
Caymus introduced Conundrum, a proprietary white table wine that
is an unorthodox combination of Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Muscat,
Sémillon and now Viognier. This maverick wine screams California
with its ripe, exotic flavors and has proven its worth over the
years. Rated outstanding for its 1990 and '91 vintages, and just
shy of outstanding for the '92 and '89 (the 1993 was not rated),
it all comes down to this: we think it tastes great! December
15, 1995: Ranked number 62 in the Top 100 list.
USA Today,
March 8, 1996, Best Bets. Juicy and lush, it offers a riot of
tropical flavors due to its unusual blend of sauvignon blanc, semillon,
chardonnay, muscat canelli and viognier.
